The fishing socket can be used when there is a need to have a means of shearing or releasing from a fish during downhole fishing operations.
The fishing socket is a hardened rope socket with an external fishneck that is latched with a conventional pulling tool of corresponding size on one end and a threaded connection on the other.
The fishing socket is typically attached the a pulling or fishing tool and allows for a means of releasing from the item being fished should the need arise.
The fishing socket also allows for re-engagement of the fish.
Applications:
The fishing socket may be used to aid in the recovery of lock mandrels stuck in the wellbore.
The fishing socket can be utilized during wireline or slickline fishing operations where a positive latch overshot or spear has been utilized.
