BAILERS
Hydrostatic Bailer
Hydrostatic bailers are typically used to loosen, and retrieve debris in the wellbore.
The hydrostatic bailer used the hydrostatic pressure of the wellbore to suck debris into the load barrel which is O-ring sealed with atmospheric pressure.
This is accomplished by jarring down and shearing a pin, allowing wellbore pressure to enter the barrel.
Applications:
Used to bail or remove sand or packed particulate from the tops of blanking plugs or other downhole equipment.
Used in some instances in conjunction with finger baskets to retrieve rubber or other larger debris from the wellbore.
Used in conjunction with a chisel shoe to break up and remove packed debris from around fishnecks or prongs.
